Description
The Heritage Audio 6673 Preamplifier Module is an 80 series compatible 80 dB microphone and 10 dB line recording module based on the vintage 1066 and 1073 modules designed by Rupert Neve. The remake is intended for recording engineers who want the classic Neve sound but with greater flexibility. This module features the same Class A circuitry as the originals, the same constant Q of the original 1066, and the same 3-band equalizer circuit found in the 1073. Additionally the module also includes the mid-band equalizer circuit from the 1066. The mid-band frequency has been expanded further beyond the originals with three additional frequencies to broaden the sonic possibilities.
The unit supports selectable HI-LO minimum balanced and floating input impedances that accommodate a range of microphone types including vintage ribbons. It includes a ±16 dB selectable low frequency Baxandall shelving EQ at 35 Hz, 60 Hz, 110 Hz, and 220 Hz. For mids, the unit includes the 1073 s ±18 dB peaking fixed Q equalizer with center frequencies at 240 Hz, 360 Hz, 530 Hz, 700 Hz, 1100 Hz, 1600 Hz, 3200 Hz, 4800 Hz, 7200 Hz, and 10,000 Hz. It also features the 1066 s constant Q mid frequency EQ with ± 18 dB at 700 Hz, 1200 Hz, 2400 Hz, 3600 Hz, and 7000 Hz. An 18 dB inductor based high pass filter switch allows you to cut below 50 Hz, 80 Hz, or 300 Hz depending on the application. An EQ button allows for the equalizer to be turned on or off and a phase button allows you to flip the signal 180°.
